Summer holidays 2027 in Scotland
Scottish schools break up for summer 2027 between Friday 25 June and Friday 2 July, depending on the council. They go back between Wednesday 11 and Tuesday 24 August 2027.

Break-up dates
Councils finish the 2026/27 session over one week.
- Friday 25 June: Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, West Lothian and the Western Isles.
- Tuesday 29 June: Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and East Ayrshire.
- Wednesday 30 June: Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire.
- Thursday 1 July: Angus, Highland, Perth and Kinross and Scottish Borders.
- Friday 2 July: Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife, Moray, Argyll and Bute, Dumfries and Galloway, Orkney and Shetland.
Many schools finish early on the last day. Glasgow schools close at 1pm on Friday 25 June 2027.
How long the summer holidays are
The break is usually seven to eight weeks. Glasgow pupils finish on Friday 25 June and return on Wednesday 18 August 2027. Aberdeen pupils finish on Friday 2 July and return on Tuesday 24 August.

- Monday 16 August: Argyll and Bute, East Dunbartonshire, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire and South Ayrshire.
- Tuesday 17 August: Angus, Dundee, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.
- Wednesday 18 August: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Highland, Moray, Perth and Kinross and several others.
- Monday 23 August: Dumfries and Galloway.
- Tuesday 24 August: Aberdeen.
Teachers go back one or two days earlier for in-service training.
We have not yet confirmed 2027/28 dates for Aberdeenshire, East Lothian, Inverclyde and Orkney. The Western Isles has proposed Thursday 19 August 2027 for pupils, but this is not final.

- Glasgow Fair: Saturday 17 July 2027, set by Glasgow City Council.
- Summer bank holiday: Monday 2 August 2027.
- Exam results: Qualifications Scotland sends 2027 results on Tuesday 10 August.
