Guides to the Scottish school year

These guides cover each school holiday in Scotland for 2026/27, with dates for every council. The next break is October week, from Monday 12 October 2026 in most councils.

School holidays

  • October week: which councils take one week and which take two.
  • Christmas holidays: break-up days from 18 to 23 December 2026, and return dates in January 2027.
  • February holidays: the mid-term break, from 2 to 6 days depending on the council.
  • Easter holidays: spring break dates for 2027, with Good Friday and Easter Monday.
