Angus Council sets the school calendar for Arbroath, Forfar, Montrose, Brechin, Carnoustie, Kirriemuir and Monifieth. Angus takes a two-week autumn holiday earlier than most councils. In 2026 it runs from Monday 5 to Friday 16 October.
Pupils return on Monday 19 October. The winter term has a long weekend in early December. In-service days on 2 and 3 December are followed by the St Andrew's Day holiday on Friday 4 December.
Pupils are off from Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 December. Term ends on Wednesday 23 December, and schools reopen on Thursday 7 January 2027. February has a four-day break from Thursday 11 to Monday 15 February.
The spring term runs to Friday 26 March, which is Good Friday. The spring holiday is then Monday 29 March to Friday 9 April. There are five in-service days in 2026/27.
The last one is Monday 31 May. The session ends on Thursday 1 July 2027. In 2027/28 staff return on Monday 16 August and pupils on Tuesday 17 August 2027.
