Argyll and Bute's 2026/27 calendar in brief

Argyll and Bute Council runs mainland and island schools. They range from Helensburgh and Oban to Campbeltown, Bute, Mull and Islay. Its calendar has a full February holiday week, which many councils do not.

In 2027 pupils are off from Monday 8 to Monday 15 February. The final day is an in-service day. The 2026/27 session started on Monday 17 August 2026.

The October holiday runs from Monday 5 to Friday 16 October 2026. There is a long weekend in November, with an in-service day on Monday 23 November. Schools close for Christmas on Tuesday 22 December and reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2027.

Easter is split in 2027. Schools close for Good Friday and Easter Monday, 26 and 29 March. The two-week Easter holiday then runs from Monday 5 to Friday 16 April.

Late May brings another long weekend, from Friday 28 to Monday 31 May. There are five in-service days in 2026/27. The session ends on Friday 2 July 2027.
