Dundee City Council sets the school calendar for the whole city, from Broughty Ferry to Lochee. The 2026/27 session began on Tuesday 18 August 2026. The next break is the two-week autumn holiday, from Monday 12 to Friday 23 October.
In-service days on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November give a four-day weekend. Term ends on Wednesday 23 December, and schools reopen on Thursday 7 January 2027. February brings another long weekend.
Pupils are off from Friday 12 to Tuesday 16 February, with one of those days an in-service day. The spring holiday starts on Good Friday, 26 March, and ends on Friday 9 April. Dundee keeps Victoria Day as a school holiday.
In 2027 it falls on Monday 31 May, after an in-service day on Friday 28 May. There are five in-service days in 2026/27. The session ends on Friday 2 July 2027.
In 2027/28 schools reopen after Easter on Easter Monday, 17 April 2028.
