North Lanarkshire Council runs schools across towns such as Airdrie, Coatbridge, Motherwell, Wishaw, Cumbernauld and Bellshill. Pupils return on Wednesday 12 August 2026. Teachers are back two days earlier for in-service days on 10 and 11 August.
A September weekend break closes schools on Friday 25 and Monday 28 September. The October week runs from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October. Schools close at 2.30pm on Friday 18 December for Christmas.
They reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2027. In 2027, Good Friday and Easter Monday fall outside the spring break. Schools close for them on 26 and 29 March.
Schools close at 2.30pm on Friday 2 April. The spring break then runs from Monday 5 to Friday 16 April. Thursday 6 May 2027 is an in-service day linked to the Scottish elections.
A late May weekend closes schools on Friday 28 and Monday 31 May. The session ends at 1pm on Friday 25 June 2027. There are five in-service days in 2026/27.
In 2027/28, pupils return on Monday 16 August 2027 and finish at 1pm on Wednesday 28 June 2028.
